Went to the lfs store today to replace my sons female swordtail, and wow they got a new shipment of bettas. I saw this bright yellow in a cup and had to look. His body is dark purple, getting lighter as it blends into his fins. His fins are bright yello and tipped with violet. Most beautiful betta boy i have seen yet. Wish i had a digital camera so that you all could see him. I am in the process of getting him a home, but for right now, he is in a unfiltered 1 gallon, which i will have to clean clean clean. So happy, my first betta that is not a rescue. Sandy

:D He sounds beautiful, sandyd :D

I'm going to have to start thinking about getting one myself. But, all the ones I've seen around here are such sad looking little fellows, not at all like the one you describe or the ones the other folks here (who have posted pictures) have.

Best of luck with him!

Thanks so much, i now have 5. The first 4 were in really sorry condition when i got them, but after a few weeks of good clean water, they start to re grow thier fins and all look great now. I think everyone should get one, they are too cute. Sandy

If you get a sad little fellow you might be pleasantly surprised in a few months - it's amazing what clean water, live food and special colour-enhancing food can do for a betta. Even a purple-dark blue moggy becomes the most gorgeous fish.

Absolutely Alien Anna I also rescue bettas in bad cond. Do you keep your bettas in jars sanyd? I have 10g tanks for mine ;)

My first 4 bettas were rescues, torn up and in very bad condition. I brought them home and put them into devided 10 gallons. I also add lots of live plants to their tanks, as well as caves for them to hide in. I fully cycle the tanks before adding them, and keep a close eye on all of their water conditions.
No i do not keep mine in jars, this new one is in a 1 gallon tank only until i can get him a bigger home. He seems fine in the 1 gallon, but would be much happier in a devided 10 with plants and caves and stuff to do. All of my bettas are very spoiled as i think all animals should be.
I would not keep them in a jar, i know they come from rice patties and such, but when man took them out of their natural environment, it became our responsibility to take care of them to best of our ability. I am not putting down on those who use jars, this is only my opinion.

I keep all of mine seperate since they are all males. I have heard you can keep a few females together, but i have not gotten any as of yet. Sandy

Thanks, so much, i think they are beautiful, do you have any yet? They all need good homes and lots of love. LOL

I have 1 female and 1 male. The male is in a .5 gallon tank and the female is in a bowl until my 2 molly fry get big enough to be put in my 35gallon tank then the female will be moved to a 4 gallon!

I would love to get some girls, but the boys are taking over at my house, LOL I am hopeing that as soon as i get the new one a 10, i can devide it and put a girl on the other side so that i can see how they are. I posted to your cleaning how i do it, hope it helps. Sandy
