Not been on of late as I've been away but I got back yesterday and I seen this little guy in a LFS, he was the only one in the tank so I thought it'd be rude not to have him :p

He's a L191 (I think) Royal Pleco, he's really small at the minute, 1.5 inches and is wild caught so the guy said...

I was like that then I joined these forums and there was no stopping me :p, they're the first thing I look for now :D

He's a beauty! I want a Panaque one day!
Cheers :), he's already making himself at home loves the wood!

Yeah I did a bit of research and noticed that, he hasn't moved off it lol.

100% wild caught, nobody is successfully breeding these as yet.

The wood looks like Mopani which is a relatively hard wood, do you have any softer wood in there other than the coconut shell thing?

Keep protein intake down to a minimum, wood is the only thing they need but supplement with fresh courgette (zuchini if you are stateside)

Very slow growers, L191 was my first Panaque.

My old one is below at around 6 inches.

Yeah it's Mopani, unfortunately not, I know they have that driftwood? I had a quick look on eBay and the only stuff I can find comes from Malaysia

Agh okay thank's for that, I've got come courgette (I'm in England :good: )

Yeah I read up on them being slow growers, how big did that one get?

How much was your plec? And he looks amazing.:)

This little guy was £15, they had some around 6" which were £70

Driftwood would be preferable to Mopani if you can squeeze some in.

I left the UK soon after those photos were taken so sold at 20 or so sp. I kept.

Factor an inch a year growth wise in optimum conditions.

If you want something to aspire to have a look at the link below... same species...

I'm not a big fan of plecos (although i have them because I feel they do alot of good in the tank, and mine has a very interesting personality) but that has got to be the most adorable little thing i have ever seen!

Yeah okay then I'll have a look, was a bit dubious about getting it from Malaysia though! An inch a year will do nicely I think...

£850, no way! Will that actually sell you reckon?

Haha, cheers. I couldn't not get him once I seen him in the shop lol!

Not sure to be honest, it is way over what somewhere like Pier aquatics would sell it for.

Quite surprised it is even offered for sale in UK, pieces like this normally end up in either Japan or Singapore
