Another betta for me! yay! When I got him, he was in a plastic cup. I vowed to myself that I will always age the water before I introduce it after Firebolt died. Well, I happened to find some old, already aged water that was for Firebolt before he died, so I put it all into a small plasic container and put the fish in with some gravel and the castle that once was Firebolt's. This is just a temporary home until the water finishes ageing, and at least it's better than the plastic cup. And since this betta has been in the cup for practically all his life, i'm sure he wouldn't mind being in a bigger place for awhile. He's un-named, and is mostly blue with red on the sides.

"Aging" the water is an idea that predates chemical dechlorinators. All that you need to do is make sure the water is dechlorinated and that it is a similar temperature to his bowl. Trust me - I've got some incredibly delicate fish and I never "age" my water.

I'm pretty certain your last fish died from concussion.

Concussion? So he hit his head really hard, and lost his mind and memories, being unable to remember how to swim. That explains the flopping around. Then, he eventually forgot how to breathe, and died. Then, after a few hours, blood was filling his head from his brain and that explains the blackness. hmmmm...yet another logical conclusion. It could have been a lot of stuff, and this one seems to somewhat make sense. Imagine that.....you want to breathe, but you forgot how to do it.... :X
