yeah its a red arowana - an endangered species in the wild, very rare, and shouldn't be sold without certification and microchip. :nerd:

just read somewhere that specimens such as the one above are 20,000 to 30,000 US dollars......oh my
And to me it just looked like a photoshopped version of a standard silver.

A silver arowana's shape is very different to that of a asian arowana. It could be several colour strains, super red, chilli red and the list goes on. a great example of them though.

I have a red tail gold asian arowana whos colours are still developing.

The most expensive type of asian arowana is no doubt cross backs, these are absolutely gorgeous. a 9" specimen easily sell for £1500 over here, and even that is quite cheap.

Definitely not a silver, a beautiful fish for sure. Depending on where you live their costs will differ. In Vancouver i could pick up a 6" for $1200 CAD. In the US their price tag is gigantic because they are outlawed (thats why they are rare).
They are farm bred and selectively bred, so you won't get those colors in the wild.

Oh yeah, and when those pics are taken, the photographers use special lights that magnify the fishs natural color.

Um, yeah, I'd like to get a loan for a new house. Collateral? Well, if you look in that tank over there.....

Sorry, I'd use money like that for a house. Thinking long term, more tanks hehehe :shifty:
