how does google earth work? do i have to download something? I have a navigation system in my car and I can get the long and lat from that.

ok i have looked into my car and found that my lat = in the area of 53,4xxxx Long = 3.11xxx

no unfortunately not, i think that would sap a HELL of a lot of bandwidth!
all images are taken from satellites & planes over the last 3 years. some places you can zoom so far in you can see people in their cars! Las Vegas is one of those. some places you can't yet zoom in that far though

yeah lol, wow nice high res on your house cat! my vague house area is 50°52'39.07"N0°16'5.31"E rubbish resolution, cant even see the roads, spose my area is "insignificant" lol

where do you find the co-ordinate thingies?

erm, when you add a new pinpoint and it comes up with the grey box thing where you put in the name etc, click on "advanced" and then click the "location" tab and it comes up with longitude and latitude, copy and paste them both, stick them together so that then we can copy and paste it straight into the search bar, i think thats what you do, just from memory what i said lol
