hey guys, all 3 of my bettas are a lil werid so iv got a few questions.

~ do bettas sleep, because wen the lights go out they hit the bottom of the tank and stop moveing.

~ wen my female notices one of the males she changes colors, i know this is normal but wen she puts in for my steel balck male she gets teal stripes and wen for my purple male, she gets purple stripes....is this werid?

~ are bettas usrally naturally lazy fish?

~ and can sum 1 explain clearly to me wat a halfmoon is? i think my vt is one but im not totally sure.

sry i havn't got any pics of my female and new male, iv got the pics, i just gotta find time to upload them -_-

My males tend to sleep on the bottom though my females sleep near the top at night, not sure about the color thing. Are they vertical or horizontal stripes? They're not lazy, just inactive. Their normal habitat is a stagnant or slow moving water source so they don't move much. Halfmoon is a tail type, it looks like half of a circle. There are a few members here with them in their avatars.

1) yes bettas do sleep, they just rest on a plant or the bottom of the tank and stop moving, that is their "rest"

2) i dont' think i'ts weird, if they are horizontal it is a sign of stress and she may feel threatened by the male, if they are vertical she may be just getting ready for breeding (of course not saying that you must or 100% could breed her)

3) I don't think bettas are anturally lazy fish, they may be lethgaric if you never see them move around much. I admit some are more docile than others and don't swim around thier tank frantically flaring. But you should be able to tell when a betta is just "chilling and relaxing" versus one who deosn't look like it's doing so well.

4) a halfmoon is a tail type where when the betta flares the tail makes a 180 spread, anything less than that is considered a super delta.
