what are good tankmates for a cockatoo dwarf cichlid? Are yoyo loaches and blue gouramis ok?

Hi,

small tetras like Nannostomus sp., Axelrodia riesei, Axelrodia stigmatias, Carnegiella sp., Gasteropelecus sp., Hyphessobrycon elachys, Hyph. amandae, Copella arnoldi, or Otocinclus sp., Macrotocinclus flexilis, Endlers, Epiplatys annulatus, Corydoras pygmaeus, C. habrosus, C. hastatus and and and. All these fishes make good tankmates, they normaly don't harm the fry, so you have a serious chance to breed the A. cactuoides.

p.s.: I don't have any experiences keeping Gouramis or loaches together with dwarf Cichlids

No. If your going to add it to your 10 gallon. IT's already overwstocked with the two loaches and both grow up to be 8 inches. Trust me. I had just one yo-yo loach in my tank and man was I told. I was reccomended by the Wolf and other members to get other loaches instead like the dwarf loach or something like that. Anyway check this link out:

Otherwise, if your adding it to your 29 gallon then go ahead; should work out fine, as long as there is plenty of hiding spaces for the loaches.

Isnt it true though that fish dont get to full size as long as they are in a smaller tank?. Ive had one of my yoyo's for almost 1 and a half years and hes only 2 and a half inches or so.

No, put this in the aquaristic myths and legends drawer please! In Germany this is a common announcment from the employees at the LFS (money, money, money ). Yesterday, i've heard a conversation between a LFS-employee and a customer (victim fits better). And the customer bought some Panaque, one pair A. cacatuoides, brackish puffers against the snails, X. helleri and some tetras for ca. 12 gal. Phew...

If it were like that then I'd be putting oscars and Jd's in my 10gallon. Heck you even stick in a arowana if that rules was true.

Starnge! Very starne indeed! Ive had my yoyo loaches for almost a year and a half and there only 2 inches or so. Maybe loaches dont grow very fast.

that may have something to do with the fact that keeping big fish in small tanks stunts their growth and reduces their lifespan.
