I need some ideas for some good songs to cover acoustically. I've got a regular acoustic slot starting soon and the venue just wants covers (booo!) so I basically want to cover unexpected songs and change them up a bit to make them into lovely acoustic songs.

Any suggestions would be well received as I am drawing a total blank. Also mention your favourite already acoustic songs so I can chuck a few of them in aswell!

Much obliged.

'If it means a lot to you' by A Day To Remember. Easy to play acoustically, and a great song. It may not be known by your audience but it sure will be enjoyed.
'Cast No Shadow' By Oasis is a nice song to cover, again really easy. It's probably my favourite song of all time.
'The Scientist' by Coldplay is nice acoustic, and well recognised. Think an audience would like that
'Country Roads' by John Denver?
I also like playing acoustic versions of 'Don't look back in anger' by Oasis, 'Shout it loud' By Oasis, 'Im outta time' By Oasis, 'Good Riddance' by Green Day, 'Everybody Hurts' by R.E.M, 'Yellow' By Coldplay, 'End Credits' by Chase and Status (you could make it work acoustically'

Oh yeah, and 'Rescue Blues' by Ryan Adams - What a song.

James.

+1 on 'Don't look back in anger' It's one of my favourite songs to play, sounds good on an acoustic or on an electric guitar with a little gain.

I quite like Paranoid by Black Sabbath, the solo is fantastic to play, lots of trademark Tony Iommi licks and it works well on an acoustic guitar too, This Charming Man is another nice one to play.

Just, please, don't do 'Hallelujah'....

What's that song of shrek halla halu something like that

But I'm unsure tbh

Nice choices! We do 'Monument' by ADTR.

Unfortunately, I can't stand Time Of Your Life any more. I've heard it covered badly sooo many times!

Definitely some great ones there. Thanks James!

Ain't Nuttin but a G thang - Snoop Dog Ft Dr Dre

Hahaha! Dya think a little white girl could get away with that?

We already do 'Don't Look Back In Anger' on piano. Sounds pretty sweet (even if I do say so myself!)
This Charming Man is a great one though!

Just, please, don't do 'Hallelujah'....
Have you heard the original Leonard Cohen version? My goodness, it's wonderful. I would never even attempt to cover that though!

Wonderwall, the easiest cover to play in the world ever.

How about Hallelujah?

Hallelujah? *Taps chest with a clench fist.* That's one for the heart lol

Righty then.. I would call on the following, for just a few....

3 Doors Down - Kryptonite
Finger 11 - One Thing
Seether - Tongue
Kings of Leon - Closer
Creed - Don't Stop Dancing
Walk the Moon - Jenny
Manic Street Preachers - Autumnsong
Nickelback - Feeling Way Too Good
Burn Halo - Dirty Little Girl
Soko - I'll Kill Her
John Waite - Rough & Tumble
Puscifer - The Mission
Aloe Blacc - Loving You Is Killing Me

Keep us updated on how it turns out :good:

I love Leonard Cohen!

I have every album he's ever made on my PC :)

But the Jeff Buckley version was not too shabby ;)

I think Snoop Dogg's, Gin & Juice would fly better if brought to acoustic

Ain't nothin' But A G Thang, would work too under the right key.

Aw, come on now, that's a total copout! Haha! Have you heard Ryan Adams version though? Makes you hear the song in a completely different way <3

Kryptonite! Wowzers, not heard that in years, love it! Kings of Leon is also a good staple, maybe not Closer though coz the guitar effects make that song IMO. Not heard alot of the others you mentioned but I will definately youtube them. Thanks very much!

Also, I will see if we can record a few vids of us and show you guys when we've practised a bit!

I love the idea of an acoustic rap song. Not sure if i'd have the balls to rap though. Maybe a rap song with a melodic chorus would be cool. Or maybe I could change it up to sing the rappy bits. Definately would be a challenge though which is what i'm looking for!
