I was thinking if rabbit snails are a good idea

I wouldn't be adding anything to the tank and I would also increase water changes to twice a week. Then upgrade the tank sooner than in a couple of years

I would make it closer, maybe in a few months or less. The size of tank he is almost abuse in a way. Not that you're meaning to... It's just a very very small enclosure for such a big fish.

Cool fish. Glad he's getting a bigger tank soon. It will probably need something bigger yet before it's done growing. I don't know of any snails that get 5". I don't think even rabbit snails get that big usually, though I could be wrong. I've heard that oscars tend to be both predatory and intelligent, which makes me doubt any snail in the tank with it is long for this world.
