Just been watching my breeding pair of GBR's. Although I haven't seen them lay eggs yet, I know that they have in the shop.
Today however I have noticed them 'ramming' haha, like they are kissing? I've read that this can be mating behaviour and was unsure as to wether it meant they will shortly be laying or breeding.
The females tummy is very red, but after they has finished what looked like fighting, she has lost alot of her coloration and is keeping her fins quite tightly presets to herself.

Can anyone let me know what this might mean? I don't know if this is breeding behaviour or if she is hurt?!

Its prespawning behavior. Since she faded and is clamping her fins, most likely she's not ready. Make sure the water parameters are correct and she has plenty of hiding spots, and they'll most likely try again in a few days.

Yeah water is perfect. PH is maybe a little but not too bad. Her colours have come back now and she is swimming around normally again. Maybe he just stressed her out a little.
Where do I find their breeding tubes? I'm guessing on their underneath but what do they look like?
How exciting! I hope they do spawn!

The breeding tube is located just in front of the anal fin. In females when they are ready to spawn it is very visible and blunt ended. In males it's usually only slightly visible and comes to a point.
Good luck!
