Is it ok to take live rock from my tank and put it in my brand new tank? Common sense is telling me that it would be a good thing and would not only save me money on buying more live rock but seed my brand new tank faster ( i don't buy used. ) I just wanted to confirm that this was fine.

I wanted to add that I do not plan to cook the rock as I see some suggest over the web, and I don't understand honestly myself why people would want to kill all of the life on the rock and turn it into a base rock before putting " old " live rock into a new tank as long as it didn't dry out first.

I know where it has been and I don't really see any reason to re-cure it since the fish inhabiting the tank where the live rock currently is are completely fine.

I am surprised no one has answered your question yet, I am still just starting out so please dont take my advice as seriously as you might someones with years in this hobby, however, I can not see it being a problem, if anything I think it might help get your new tank set up quicker :) please feel free to correct me anyone if I am wrong

Is live rock something for a marine tank? The term is unfamiliar to me so I didn't reply.

My first thought is that you should be fine in doing so.
