I went to a petsmart with brackets, they were really small, and some of the cups they had were bigger. they actually had them in cups for the most part, but the larger cups, not the tiny ones.

It was disapointing.

my petsmart keeps them in 1 gallon tanks... no lights but still the nice lil 1 gallon tanks! and some are in 1/2 gallon critter keepers! i always she the lady feeding them and they are all flary and happy!

That must be nice to see.
Our PetSmarts keep them in teeny little cups that hold probably about 1 cup of water, and the lids don't have holes in them so they have to prop them over to the side so they get air. Then, the lids always get knocked over to the side - and inevitably, somebody jumps. 2 times now in PS here I've found a dried up little guy who jumped out. It's just ridiculous they continue to use those dang cups.

UUGH!

Both of the Petsmarts locally (both within 10 miles, essentially) have them in small, approximately 8 ounce cups. They don't even put lids on them at all. The lids are stacked next to the Betta rack, and the Bettas are all clustered together. They could jump if they wanted to. I haven't seen any who have.

The petsmart here uses 6oz cups, only half filled. They have lids like you would get with a takeout coffee on them. The lids are too big for the cups. Thank god they aren't stacked on top of eachother, but side by side. It is depressing.

well... that's good news seeing that I'm going to petsmart tomorrow...

That's so exciting Bettamomma! Do you know when they'll start installing the barraks? I bet they'll get much better sales, too, when people can see each (healthier) betta! :flex:

I just wanted to say that the petsmart by where I live keeps there bettas in cups but there water is always clean and topped up. I got one of my boys from there.

The superpet that I go to has there bettas on the walls. I think thats what you guys are talking about thats good?

:*

Frisa - Not sure when they'll be going around to the older ones, but from this point forward, all new PetSmart stores will be having those installed.

The Petsmart closest to me has the betta barracks installed (store just opened a few months ago) and while the individual compartments are still small they are one heck of an improvement over the plastic cups. I'm really quite impressed with this particular Petsmart, I'd say 99% of the times I've gone in the fish have been healthy and well maintained. Their bettas are in the best condition of any of the 4 local Petsmarts and even their livebearers tanks are in good shape.
