Hi All,

I am a very happy man today. I have posted a few times for some beginner help as it has been 10years since my last aqurium. I added fish quite soon (2 weeks or so) and was probably a little impatient and naive  I added 3 male guppies and 3 female blue coral platties but still had some readings for ammo and nitrite. Good news is I didn’t loose any of them and have 3 thriving platty fry also. And today I am FULLY Cycled (about 8 weeks in total) at last with no casualties!!! :good: So thank you to all that gave advise!

I would like some suggestions on stocking please....
Its a planted tank so lots of cover etc and some drift wood and lava rock. Its a 90 litre fluval tank and I have the 6 fish i mentioned above so far.

Any suggestions of a good place to go next with stocking?. I would like a variety of fish (community) maybe a centre piece. I would also really like something for the bottom of the tank (sand/fine gravel)Corys? some sort of catfish?

I am very excited and would love to hear some suggestions. :shout:

Thanks
Phill

Well it sounds like you have started stocking with 6 platies and 3 guppies. How big is this tank we are talking about and what are your personal likes in fish?
My own preferences run to pygmy cories and goodeids or Limias as the main fish but those do not appeal to many other people.

Hi

I Guess like most people new to the hobby with a smallish tank, I like colour and interesting behaviour in fish. The tank is 2ft wide and 1ft deep if that helps. Would Blue rams or Gourami be ok with current stock?

Thanks
Phill

12 Neon tetras and then possibly 6 pygmy cories.
The Tetras will add vibrant colour and shoal nicely together in the tank and the Corydora's will add character to the tank, they are very funny fish.
Hope that helps.

Excellent thanks. Would ya say thats enough then fish wise?

I am reading the tank volume as 15 gallons and you already have 6 platies and 3 guppies. The tank is starting to get full. You still have room for a few pygmy cories but those would not be a center focus kind of fish. Have a look at rasboras the next time you are in your LFS. You could add a small shoal of them and call the tank full.

The described size is a bit less than 60 litres Betta 246. That is why I scaled back my recommended additions.

OK, it is bigger than 1 ft by 2 ft then. That means you could have the rasboras and the cories too.
