Looking for recommendations for a LFS in west yorkshire. Tried the sticky post in this forum - but not the easiest to look through/search.

I keep tropicals (platies etc) and looking for a good shop to have a browse!

don't like fish people myself

try paws for thought on york rd in leeds

tingley tropicals on the A650 in tingley, leeds

Quality Koi Company in Brighouse

Interfish in Osset

don't ever go to tong garden centre or the living world in armley

living world is shocking thats why, known amongst the rest of the shops and a lot of customers as dying world, never ever by living stock from there imho

yeah both paws4thoughts are good, petcity in leeds citycentre is THE place for plecs, tingley trops is good for cichlids and some plecos but the guy is an asshole lol.

maidenhead at wyevale garden centre nr york (ok not west yorks but close) is good but a bit pricey.

interfish is good for marines, nothing out the ordinary for trops last few times i been in

should have said that then......

same reason one would assume, i know at least 2 people on here that have got a lot of diseased and sick fish from there on more than one occasion

Yep, avoid Fish People for anything living - it's ok for food and supplies and some of the staff are very nice, but fish wise, they're utter crap. I lost £75 worth of fish from them within a week of getting them - my tanks are perfect stat wise, and the only fish that died were the ones from them. Must say - they did replace two of the plecs (value £40 ish max), but they just have crap suppliers. Avoid, avoid, avoid, I dont know how many times I can say it lol.

Edited to add - I also know of someone who bought some angels from them who were badly diseased with columnaris, and when they rang to warn the shop - they were told yes they knew, and they were being removed from sale - when she either rang in again or went in (cant remember) to update and get her refund (which I dont think she got either), and then on another occasion she found out they'd sold on the whole tank of fish knowing they had columnaris and were fluffy and sick.

That's why I wont buy fish from them again. I wish my hubby would listen, he still gets some now and again for his tank, but they cant even tempt me with the L nos they're now stocking. Honestly, I think the manager is a decent bloke, but some of his staff are nothing less than village idiots, and his wife - although I've personally not met her so dont know how true this is - is supposed to drive a hard bargain when it comes to deserved refunds.

Took a trip to tingley tropicals. Not the friendliest shop in the world (nor the unfriendliest), kind of felt a little in the way. Bought some dry stuff. Fish looked good and well looked after. Not great choice for run of the mill tropicals though. Seems I'm more more spoilt than I thought at QSS!

Pet City is good for some of the L umber plecs, chequerboards and so on, ask for Mick.

I can vouch for that. Don't let the fact that it looks just like an ordinary pet shop put anyone off - Mick most definitely knows his stuff.
