Good Freshwater Tropical Fish Book?

I was about to ask the same questions about books! Thanks for asking it McPhenius, and you guys are great with the replies. Can't wait to get home and order some of these books :D

I was just in bookstore and they had the Mini-Atlas by Burgess and Axelrod, but for marine fish. They didn't have the tropical one.

They had another book by Burgess and Axelrod called "Aquarium Fish of the World" and that was about 1,000 pages and same size as the mini-atlas.

Is this book any good or should I still look for the Tropical mini-atlas?

This book showed a lot of fish with info, but seemed over my head as a new tank hobbyist. I recall it talking about each fish but don't remember if it had info on ideal temperature, tankmates, etc. It had a section on plants, but not sure about care, feeding, diseases, etc.

Lot of scientific names. I like the simple pet store names :)

Interested if "Aquarium Fish of the World" by Axelrod and Burgess is recommended. Thanks.......

I thank you all for the answers too. More?

Books I have in english

*****Baensch Aquarium atlas 1-3: Best books I've seen.

****Dr. Axelrod's Mini-Atlas of Freshwater Aquarium Fishes: this is mainly a picture book but quite good of that kind.

****Mini encyclopedia Aquarium Plants: I like this book. Not very extencive but good anyway.

****Back to nature: Catfishes: Nice, good pics and ok amount of species. No L-numbers used is a big minus.

****Back to nature: Malawi cichlids: Good I think, I don't care that much of malawi cichlids. Good pics.

****Back to nature: Tanganika cichlids: Same as with malawis.

***Aquarium fishes of the world (Axelrod, Burgess, Warren etc.): Pictures are nice but I don't like that fish species are in the alphabetical order.

***Aqualog: Shrimps, crayfishes and crabs in the freshwater aquarium: Too light and doesn't introduce enough species but ok. Nice pics.

***Britman, Rasboras: Bit old book and quite shallow but ok and shows some rare species too.

***Lucanus, Gouramis and Other Labyrinth Fishes: Ok, but could be much more extencive.

*Sterling, The practical aquarium fish handbook: Information is ok, but I've never seen worse pictures.

*Tropical fish, a Golden quide: Bad information and I don't like drawings.
