Im looking to buy another tank, maybe one with a built in filter since seperate ones make more noise, but I would be buying an external filter to run with it. Probably end up being a Juwel Tank but im just wondering if theres anything better. Any recommendations with a price range of £200 - £300.

It depends what size tank your after but Ehiem tanks are very good. A bit on the pricey side if ou want a larger one but very good quality tanks and most of the newer tanks now will include a thermo external filter in the extra packs.

>>> since seperate ones make more noise

Depends what you buy. My Eheims are silent.

Have you tried the AquaOne range?

Cracking tanks, well built and finished nicely, ive got two and there excellent,

where are you from by the way,pm me if ya like, :)

Dont get a Juwel, the tanks are ok but the equipment supplied is crap. The Eheim and Rena kits are both nice but as said they come at a price, personally i'd build a set up from seperates and either build the stand myself or employ a carpenter to build one for the tank.

>>> Lancashire

That's a pity, I know a carpenter in SW London who'd have given you a quote for the stand work!

If you look up Mer Aquatica they have offers on every so often. Last time I looked they were charging 350 for a 6x2x2 with stand and hood (pay them another £40 and they deliver to your door).

Fantastic service and always willing to help. If I was to buy another new tank I'd certainly look there first.

I would also suggest looking into doing a custom setup.

Other than this, Hagen make quite good tanks, I have a Duo1200 which comes supplied with filter and the lot. I added a 2nd filter to mine because i never trust supplied filtration, but the tanks are good enough and don't look particularly ugly or out of place.

The 4ft ones go for around £260 - 280 with everything.

I would recommend a Rena Tankas they are much better built than the juwels, better looking (IMO) and come with better equipment, but you're not going to get one for less than £500 so I'd follow CFC's advice and go with seperates. If you look around there are some good deals to be had on most equipment!

Why not just save yourself some money and make the whole thing from scratch and then pick up the equiptment from ebay? I am personally gunna make a tank soon that is 5x2x2 (I would go bigger but space is an issue) and it shouldn't cost me more than 200 bucks AU to make the tank and stand (this is a generous figure, I estimate it to be around 100-150, but you know how it goes, always pays to overcompensate). To buy a tank and stand that size over here would cost alot more and I'm guessing it'd be similar over there. The best thing is you can make the tank exactly how you like (adding refugium, overflow, etc to it if you wish) and you can make the stand as sturdy as you like in case you're worried about weight.

To make a 5x2x2 tank over here would probably cost more than buying one from a cheap manufacturer. You're looking at 10mm glass and needing a minimum of 40 square feet of it. That amount of glass is not very cheap.

For a tank alone I got my 6x2x2 for £130 brand new. I think the price has now gone up to £150. you would struggle to make a tank that size that cheap.

 I'm guessing either glass is dear there or tanks are dear here. Actually I'm not guessing, tanks are dear as poison over here, so much for the "lucky country" . I never realised that there was THAT much of a difference though that it would be dearer to make a tank than buy one overseas. Figures, Australia sucks when it comes to fishkeeping :/

E-bay should still be universally cheap for equiptment though so I guess that part "should" at least still be valid.

Dont you rate the AquaOne range ?? AFAIK they are big is Australia....

being a native what do u think of them?
