Gonna Get a Doggy

Thanks for Info, Loads of Options.

Do not get a Min Pin. I have one and i love him to death but they are extreme work. He is untrainable so everytime we go out when we come home there is a big mess. We have to keep him in a big cage. And clean his messes in there. I love him he was never aggresive to my cat but he is a terror. I looked up online on how to train min pins and i only read negative things like min pins are the hardest breed to train. I didnt know that when i got him and i would have never returened him(i get attaced to things really easily). Heres a pic of mine. Hes actaully bigger than the average min pin. So yeah i advise you to think twice about the min pin.

staffie deffinatly great dog not to small not big great with kids and such a loving dog.nearly every dog i see around my area is a staff.but be aware they eat loads and poo loads (well my uncles did)lol.i rearly want 1 but my mom says when i have my own house i can get 1.they need a firm hand when being brought up, but once they have got out of that puppy stage there great. :D

are you kidding me?? Staffies are tiny! (compaired to the massive APBTs they are breeding here) and I would not reccomend a terrier of any sort if you want a relaxed dog. Remember, small dogs generally have very strong personalities, and are usually harder to train. As for lazy, the bullmastiff is the laziest of all.

We had a min pin once, "Angel". Very lovable dog, but extremely difficult to train. Strong willed and requires a lot of discipline on the owner's part. Check out various dog breeds at this link, including size, life span, characteristics, whether or not they get along with other dogs, cats, etc. I learned after the experience with "Angel" that I need to check out info BEFORE I get a pet, not afterwards.

Hey Guys,

Went to the RSPCA Yesterday.
Lots of Rotties and mastiffs. Not many Small Dogs.

Then i Went and had a look @ the Cats - Big Mistake. I maxed out my Phone Camera Taking Pix.

I have Fallen Over a 1 Eyed Persian, White with Grey Stripes.
He is so regal Looking and having 1 Eye Does not Bother him.
They say I could take him within a Week once they do a house Visit.
I am still Gonna Keep my OPtions Open as to Dog, But if I don't Find a Dog I like then the 1Eyed Persian it shall Be.
Or his neighbour a Smokey Calico Persian.

Well Its been decided - A Bassett Hound it is, Looking Into getting 1 from the Various Sites Mentioned.

Fabulous choice ! :D
I just love those dogs. Big loveable hugable rogues with beaming personalities, lolling tongues and ears to play (as in stroking) with for hours. Just make ultra sure you micro chip him (or her) and your property is like a fort - because he/she WILL try and escape and wander.

Things to watch out for with this breed:
Basset Hounds can be difficult to housebreak, and they tend to bay a lot in their sleep. These dogs are also known to howl when left alone for long periods of time. They may wander away from home if not kept leashed or locked-up. In addition, they also tend to drool more than most other breeds. They can be a bit stubborn, and will often clown around when being disobedient.
From this website.

Ps: not a clue what "tend to bay a lot in their sleep" means :dunno:

His biggest faults as a home companion are his melodious voice, his penchant for following his nose wherever it takes him, and his slobber.
From this website.

And do check out this website for some more valuable information and pro's and con's of Bassets.

Good luck !

Bassets are great! Good luck finding your doggy! (I think you should get the pound kitty too!! :p )

Wow this is old, had forgotten about it.
No I never got the Dog, Became very ill again and still only @ about 40% better.
Hopefully one day i will have a Bassett Hound.

But while recuperating @ my Inlaws I adored there Neoplitan Mastiffs and Puppy. So may end up with one of those, Never seen so many people scared a 6month old puppy before.
He did look rough, as one of the Huge Female Water Buffolas kicked an Eye in and it reversed inside his Socket. But now thankfully it has healed and has been turned back round by the Vet.
