Hi all,

I recently got into the hobby but about an hour ago I look in my tank and my stingray is munching down on my goldfish.. I dont know if its actually called a goldfish but its about 5 inches long. Anyways the stingray didn't do any damage to the goldfish but it was trying to eat its tail and the goldfish was laying sideways on the bottom of the tank.

I have isolated the goldfish since then but its still either sideways or upside down.. I can hold it right side up but it just toppels back over.. its still breathing fine and moving its fins..

Any ideas?

My guess is that more than likely the sting ray ruptured its air sacks. From my knowledge it doesnt really hurt the fish to stay alive just has movement problems( swimming upside down)

I understand,

But the goldfish wont even move.. it lays sideways on the bottom of the tank.. or now isolated the bottom of the bucket.. I can hold it up straight and it might stay there for maybe 30 seconds but then flop back over. I got him to eat some pieces of a pea with the skin off but its not doing much.

Also since I got him I havn't seen him eat once... I put fishfood in there and all the other fish eat it but he wont he just swims around.. but now I am worried he may die as I am not seeing an improvement in the last hour.

The stingray might have broken some bones? I dont really know, havent experienced a lot of fish injuries. How long have you had the fish in the first place?

I have had the fish for 2 weeks... actually I have had the whole aquarium for 2 weeks.. the other fish are doing fine but the goldfish is having the hardest time.. I read that this could be swimbladder disease? or he has been overfed.. I am going to stop feeding him for the next couple days and give him little bits of pees here and there.. and hopefully he will come back.

Based on your other thread im assuming you are talking about your Blood Parrot cichlid. Its not even close to being a goldfish. It sounds like the best thing you can do is to put it out of its misery.

I was going to suggest it, but wasnt sure if he was attached to it :/
