Goldfish Transport.

I need to take a goldfish to a mates pond,journey will be 70 mins,i have no bags so gona put it in a bucket with like two litres in then in a box to secure it,will it be ok for the drive.

I wouldnt close it off unless you put an airstone in it as well. When I had to travel with three goldfish I used a cooler, and when I took my Shubunkin to her pond I used a large tupperware container. Both times I also included battery operated airstones. Especially for such a long drive. It should be ok. Make sure the water is clean and conditioned.

Fill the bucket up about 1/3 with water, toss a towel over the top to keep the fish from jumping out. 70 minutes is nothing for a transport, fish in your local shop go 24-48 hours bagged. I regularly buy & sell fish at auctions & swaps, 12-24 hours poses no problems for tropical fish when bagged properly. Buckets and styros are a commonly used item for larger fish, they do just fine for many hours this way.

No problem. I don't have a car and brought all my fish home on public transport in buckets and tuppeware containers. They can survive up to 2 hours with no airstone, provided there is enough water (depends on size of goldfish) I've transported goldfish up to 5inches home safely.

Cool its only a small fantail,will leave lid open for air,but will roughly cover bucket so fish cant see whats going on.
