I'm in the process of purchasing a 75g aquarium for my two goldfish, who are growing expontentially and clearly need new digs. The tank is all ordered and ready to go, but in researching filtration options, I'm getting very mixed reviews and don't really know what would be best. Since none of the reviews were actually from goldfish owners, I thought I'd see if anyone here had better suggestions.
The main types I'm seeing are canister and hang-on. I've heard people rave about Fluvals, yet the more I read, the more I find serious complaints like leaks, difficult assembly, and poor biological filtration. Since I am hoping to cycle this tank, biological filtration is quite important to me. Yet at the same time, I've heard good and bad about hang-ons. My experience has been largely with hangons so far, and I find them to clog easily and not really meet my filtering expectations. They are, however, pretty easy to assemble, clean, etc.
So... anyone want to suggest a good type or brand of filter? I wanted to start set-up this week, but I first want to make sure I'm getting the right thing if I'm going to be spending such a ridiculous amount of money on two ten cent fish.
