Back in South Africa I put some goldfish in a pond I had out front of my house it was about 300gal and they thrived, I got a breading pair and they had many generations of babies and grew to a foot in length (I think they were commit goldfish.) The thing is I never used treated to water and used tap water, could goldfish be less susceptible to chlorine? or was my water quality very good? (I heard that my city had some of the best tap water in the world) I never really tested it for chlorine though but still treated the water going into my tanks ofc.

Goldfish are hardier than tropical fish, but they are still affected by chlorine. Just because there was nothing visibly wrong with the fish, does'nt mean they were comfortable :good:

Well considering they lived for 6 years and are possibly still alive and had a countless number of spawns. I made about $100 from their fry

(the young ones often got picked off by birds though :/)

Thats a shame.
Maybe your water was the best in the world then ;)

I wish I could have bought them and my tanks with me to Canada :/ I lost 8 red lined barbs when the guy who was going to pick up the tank came 2 days early before the person who was coming to pick up the barbs and I put them in a 40l nanocube within 4 hours they were dead

I couldn't drive at the time and my parents were out.

A lil to high as far as pH goes for my liking but not bad (7.6) and other than that decent but back in South Africa the tap water tasted better imo :)
