hi all

cleaning up the pond today and noticed hiding in the weeds lots of small goldfish (brown in colour)
they are about 1/8th of an inch to 1/2 an inch in size and seem healthy
should i leave them in the pond or remove them to a tank.

??

cheers
macky :D

i removed goldfish fry when they were that big, kept them in 10 gallon tank for a year and released then they were about 1-2 inches

cheers paul
are all goldfish brown when they are born..

what type of filteration should i use in the tank

i have a 4ft tank

I would remove them and put them in a tank with some slow filtration from an external or internal aswell as some airation if possible. All Goldfish fry are naturally brown when born, its something to do with survival. A brown colour would help them to blend into the waters and stay hiden from predators until they have grown. They take varying times to change to their colour, some may not even change. Good luck. :)

If you leave them in the pond they wont all live but those who dont get eaten will be healthyer

When my fry were born, they were all like see through basically and looked like tadpoles, just now they are starting to get fish like features and are starting to get colour under the belly etc...

Possibility there still some gold fish?

Yes, all fry do not have their adult features or colours when they first emerge. They will gain these gradually over time. :)
