Those two are some of the very few things that I've found that goldfish will not eat.

Well since GF are veggie eaters anythings possible.. It depends on the fish I've ha several that would eat off one plant and the others stuck their nose up to it.

I tried planting java fern once in my goldfish tank but my goldfish continuously attacked it, nibbling at it and uprooting it all the time, so i had little success with the stuff. I have noticed that common and comet goldfish tend to eat plants more than fancy goldfish varieties though .

My goldies love to munch on java moss. But they won't touch the java ferns. Then again, for some reason I can't seem to grow java ferns very well. I wouldn't want to eat my java ferns either. >__> I'm guessing it depends on the fish.
