Goldfish Cheek Has Gone Down!

I have been looking after my brothers goldfish for a couple of weeks, they are the kind with big "puffed out" cheeks, well to my horror this afternoon when i got haome one of the fish had one side cheek much smaller than the other.
I wondered is there anything i can do and will it survive or will it even just kind of re-inflate to its normal size?

When you say its check has deflated, are we talking about one of the fancy varieties of goldfish like the celestial eye goldfish where there are big check bags under the fishes eye's, celestial/bubble eye goldfish;

Check the tank to make sure its not got any rough or sharp/ish objects, bubble eye goldfish can easily peice their bubbles even on plastic plants in tanks.
