Goldfish And Carp Hybrid- Big!

Nice fish, but thats just a poor Koi that was probably sold cheep when small to lakes for fishing.

This is getting quite common as carp fishermen are looking for different fish now and fishing got Koi is growing.

I had a goldfish/carp hybrid thing. was white and had no barbles but body shape of a carp. got to 3/4 the size of that thing then it disappeared, i guessed one of the local cats had it :angry: , must have put up a fight. i called it "bruce" :-( :-(

Actually i think you could be right, looks like a very koi-like fish.

I think its a very nice looking fish anyway, and i prefer it to the usual coloured koi :good: .

Lol, that reminds me of my old goldfish 'Clem'. When i bought him (for a 5gal with other goldfish :X ) he was a bright orange comet goldfish about 3" long and a long tail.
Just over 2 years later in a 16gal he had turned completely into a whitey silvery colour fish, his tail had reverted back to the regular goldfish shape and his body was defiantly carp shaped and he was about 6" long.
He started killing everything else in the tank, including my black moor, 11 neons and a cory (that was not fun for either fish). So i took him to my lfs where the only tank they could put him is was the big middle one with some 3" piranha's in it. And he gave the piranhas a hard time too :lol: . Luckily he found a home with a much bigger goldfish in a 60gal tank, and the bigger goldfish seemed to keep him in line so theres a happy ending...except for all the eaten and dead fish -_- .

And btw i know there are many bad decisions made and a really retarded setup, but throughout the story i was 9-11 years old and had to go by what books said because i had dial up :rolleyes: (*shudder*).

Same here, when i stock my pond, i will probably invest more in the less colourful fish than the brighter ones as they are getting rarer now days and dark colours in koi or goldfish tend to be quite unique and beautiful :) . I really love the grey, black or brown shubunkin colouring in goldfish when highlighted a little by some bright colours, like this;
