Just thought I'd try get some input on the Golden Rams I have.

I brought them at the begning of January and they laid after 4-5 days of having them.

First lay - January
Seccond lay - Mid-End of Febuary

Now they won't / haven't laid again since mid-end of Feb?

In the tank there are in are: two bolivian ram, two keyholes, one angel fish, 15 rummy nose tetra and a bristlenose pleco. The tank is 190L, over filterd and quite heavily planted with co2.

First they laid on some redmoor wood, seccond time was on a big anibus leaf.

Any idea why they have 'given up' or how to encourage them? I've even added a plant pot that they will NEVER go in lol...

Thanks :)

Edit: the first and seccond time they laid the male would chase after her for a day or so kinda untill she would drop any eggs. He chases her most days but she doesn't seem to want to drop any eggs :(.

The best way to breed rams, what ever sort - they are all pretty much the same, is to have a bit of red rock in the tank, they seem to like this, mine spent ages cleaning it before spawning on it

Is that so? Can anyone confirm?

That is quite curious, and I am getting a tank sorted to breed rams, so I am quite interested.

I haven't heard of that. I have a few bits of slate, half/full plant pots scatterd round the tank all well hidden away coverd by plants (fish can get in and out though).

Yet they have only layed on a big Anibus leaf and on some not so smooth wood, so...?

Maybe the BN plec has been eating the eggs, so the Rams have given up spawning

Out of interest (because I to have Gold Rams that I would like to breed) are you keeping them in your normal tap water? and what is your PH & GH levels?

Thanks
