Sooo it seems the harder i try the worse the pond gets...

come home today... to find a golden orf with one of its eyes popping out... i know this as pop eye... but thought it had to be both eyes for it to be popeye.

what i do help?

water stats as ever are perfect.

not overcrouded etc etc etc

just what i need... was hoping he might have been " nipped" by another fish or something

Bogies. just one thing after another

He could of knocked it, but need to get the swelling down.
I would still go in with a bacterial med to be on the safe side.
Anti internal bacteria med by interpet.

i recently added an airstone to the pond as aereation backup...

could this of caused the excess nitrogen thingy it talks about?

will do

just seemed odd how it " appeard" instantly within like 20 mins

We recently had a gourami who suddenly had "pop eye" in one eye, after looking around on the web I decided to leave it alone for another 24 hours. Over that period I noticed it seemed to be improving with the redness going down and the swelling. Within 64 hours he is amazingly well, with no signs of problems.
There is a chance that he has just bumped it.

He could of banged it.
Hard to say without a pic.

Good luck.
Iv'e just lost my panda cory that I had two and half years to popeye, little fatty I called her she was so cute and loved her to bits.

Thanks poopsydrew.
Giving it a while before I add anymore, there in a 12 gallons tank only have two panda corys in it now.

Right.

After popping into 2 fish shops and describing the symptoms they both recomended interpet anti ulcer treatment.

so that was administerd last night.

The fish has shown no real sign of improvement and is also listing now to one side slightly with no sign of apretite.

To be honest once you notice a fish is ill are meds are not that strong, and are only good when you catch things really early.
To be honest he sounds like he's on his way out, sorry.
Doon your best, though very rarely they can make I come back.
So good luck.

Good luck speeeding orange! I know you feel, I am fighting a losing battle with ich right now and like wilder said you have done all you can do....its just up to the fish now. Dont give up though, I have seen fish lying on their sides with fins clamped and them gasping for air and they end up pulling through. Best of luck!
