Thank you. Considering I don't use Co2, ferts, just weekly maintenance they have grown really well. I transplant any baby plants into my other tanks. The same goes for the Vallis. They are just planted into normal gravel.
i agree with sbl those swords are amazing,no ferts at all, not even root tabs? what exactly is "just weekly maintenance" as i've never had a successful sword yet. as for the rescape if i've read correctly you are swopping the position of the rocks with the central piece of bogwood,i'm not really sure what i would suggest, though most people suggest not having a main feature in a central position, having said that your swords are the main focus of attention and they are centrally positioned.i would consider not moving those swords as they must be very happy where they are, so it comes down basically to what you prefer in the end. I suggest you take one of the swords out and give it to me
Sorry but the swords are staying. I may have more larger ones when the weather gets warmer next year if you still want some. I have moved these before. I trim off old leaves and generally tidy them up. I dont use root tabs either. My weekly maintenance is water change, filter clean, gravel vac and glass clean. Then once a year the whole lot comes out. I've got a good size plastic container that the fish, plants with filter and heater go into and the tank and gravel get a thoro clean. I feel the change of scenery is good for the fish Even doing a weekly gravel vac, it's amazing the amount of gunk that comes out when I do this.
I can see I'm going to chain them swords down The only problem with putting them at either end is that the light source was a unit for a three foot tank, so the light at either end isn't as strong as in the middle. I was thinking of having the rocks in the middle with the swords either side??? I will in the future be looking at getting a proper 4ft lid and light unit for this tank, but as the exsisting unit cost me a arm and a leg, hubby says I've got to get my money's worth out of it. Mind you the tank did'nt cost me anything.
Cant you just add a longer bulb to your light unit? then move the plants etc. I would be tempted to leave the plants where they are, I would be terrified of killing them.
I'd probably got more chance of killing myself with the electrics than killing the plants. I guess I've got green fingers, I'm the same with gardening.
I must admit there have been failings with certain plants, but have found now the one's that do it for me. You will probably be the same. I allways prefer live plants to plastic or silk, so do my fishes and Apple Snails.
