Movement sensor alarms are cheap.  Perhaps you could set one up to warn you when he goes near the tanks.  Or lock the door to the room.

Is there a way for you to come up with a way to lock the lids so he can't open them?

Idk. I just have basic set ups. So the lids are just the plastic ones that flip up... I'm not sure there would be a way to put a lock on them. :/
I don't know what I'm gonna do! I'm really hoping he just grows out of this phase... :(

Hmm, not the most ideal...but could you duct tape the lids to the tank until he outgrows this phase?

Haha. I already said in an above comment that we tried that! It didn't really work... :/

Take the fish out, put the kid in and wait five minutes. Then take the kid out, put the fish back in. Problem solved.

PS The fish will probably survive -- QED.

That's just terrible!
I can't kill my kid! Or put fish in there that are going to eat his hands off!
My goodness...

Teach ya kid to not touch the tanks.

But it can be done is the point, didnt say it was going to be easy.

Dangers etc do not go away, supervision and educations is the answer. If you cant do either at this stage, then yes remove the tanks or keep them in areas where the kids cant get to unless supervised.

I sympathise, I had a 2 year old and 4 year old really into the tanks, sticky fingers on the glass, wanting to feed them etc. I solved the problem with educating them that they were harming the fish. I promised them if they left my fish tanks alone they could have their own in the bedroom. It worked great. If you are worried you could get him some robo fish to start off with. Thankfully mine are older now.

He is just a really independent two year old... (and doesn't listen!)
He has gotten whoopings... time outs... long long talks....
Nothing works......... ugh.

Try it with a child like that, that also has Aspergers, then you'll know what hard to teach is lol, it can be done though.

I'm working on it! I'm starting to think he might have a really mild form of autism. Or something similar....
