Hi, I'm after some advice I really my family would like a puffer , at the moment we have a community tank with the fish listed below, I know Puffers have a reputation for being a bit nasty, would I have to remove all the community fish I have or are there any that would live happy with a puffer, I am quite happy to change the tank for the puffer, I have the following

180L Jewel Tank

3 Silver Dollars ( Approx 4.5" )

2 Geophagus ( 6" and 5" )

2 Kissing Gourami ( 3.5" )

5 Coral Platies ( 1" ) 4 male one female

3 x Mollies ( ( 1" )

1 Dwarf Puffer

In a seperate tank at the moment are 2 breeding Parrot Chilids and babies!

Would apprieciate advice
Thanks

I wouldn't trust a puffer with any of the fish in there, but I don't know what a geophagus is.

Jewel cichlids and figure 8 puffers are good. The figure 8s aren't brackish but do need a little fw salt. The jewels don't mind it. They also both have similar water conditions too (hardess, temp ETC) But only get 2 jewels of the same sex or one, because they can kill puffers. Happened to me :-(

DIVER: Geophagus are a type of New world cichlids that are like a larger version of rams hence microgeophagus ramerizi

Oh yeah, puffers are nasty, but jewel cichlids can kill just about any other fish in their tank while breeding and guarding fry. So if you get them and they breed REMOVE ALL OTHER FISH IMEDIATLY Sorry if I seem demanding but I have bad luck with jewels and other fish. That doesn't mean you shoudn't get one, they can turn a bright beautiful red with little spots that look like jewels all over. Awesome fish with bad temper so only get one unless you can sex them. If you can get 2 females (equally as colorful as males) because the males can get territrial.

Figure 8's are brackish fish. You'd have to have the tank brackish if you want them.
