I know you can buy specialist aquarium sealant but its nearly £10 at my LFS so would prefer to use something ive already got.

Just had a rummage in the cupboard and found some unibond no-more-nails. I assume this isnt okay, although it does say solvent free. The other thing I found was unibond shower bath a kitchen sealent. Perhaps this would be better? Any ohter household products I can use?

stay away from no nails and stuff lol id buy the shop stuff to be on the safe side
although i know you can buy silicone sealant cheaply from diy shops and im sure its the same or nearly the same stuff they make fish tanks with but wait till someone else on the forum can advise you

super glue is the easiest to find... or for bigger jobs I use a hot glue gun, but you MUST be SURE you have the right (vinyl only) sticks.

Is super glue really okay? Wont in leach nasty chemicals into my water?

rooster so does super glue not realease anything in to the water after a while?

I might be wrong here, but as far as I was concerned the reason general kitchen & bathroom sealant was unsuitable was because it contained fungicide. Now you can buy the stuff without the fungicide but I cannot say if it dangerous or otherwise. I don't for one minute believe LFS silicon is exclusive but I do think it a rip off!

Milliput or D&D Aquascape Epoxy (Cheap) Its what us Reefers use to aquascape our rockwork

A lot of sealants sold for bathroom and kitchen work does, indeed, contain fungicides which will each into the water with potentially fatal results. Most sealants form DIY shops say whether or not they are suitable for aquarium use.

hi
i used the sealent glue thats for glass of the fish tank, cost about a £5, and used it on a plastic tube with rocks glued onto it and builded it bit by bit,
as the glue smell very strong, i then kept it socked in a tub of water for a month changing the water twice a week, then poped it in tank, all was fine
