I'm upgrading my betta into a 10 gallon with some neons or black neons. I found out I may be rescuing two GloLight Danios, and I'm thinking of (If I do rescue them) putting them into the 10 gallon. There are only two, and at my LFS GloLights cost around 5 dollars a fish, and I heard they need schools of 5 or more. So my question:

If I do rescue them, could I put them into the Neon/Betta tank without them being nippy, or will I need to get 3 more?

Thanks!

Danios do better in a longer tank as they like to swim about. I feel like 10 gallons is too small for them. Also, it is correct that they are a shoaling fish that likes to be in groups. I feel no fewer than 5 but more is better.

I was able to pick up danios for 74 cents each at PetCo recently.  I don't think you have to have a school of Glolights, as long as they are danios I believe they will swim together, and feel more secure.

Do you mean glowlight danios (Danio choprae) or glofish, the genetically modified zerba danio? Danio choprae can be kept in a slightly smaller tank than zebra danios but they still need to be in a shoal in a tank bigger than 10 galls

Okay, thank you everybody.
Oh, and I ment the Glofish. :)

In that case, 90cm long tank minimum, my standard Zebra Danios (which Glofish are a genetic variant of) make full use of my 120x30x30cm, they buzz around the whole tank all day long.

Well I believe your 10 gallon is already overstocked and danios enjoy having at least 4ft tank due to their level of activity.
