A few days after my water change, I added 3 tiger barbs glo fish. That made my count go to, 6 glo tetras, 3 glo danios, 1 glo shark, and the new 3 barbs. Before adding the barbs, all others were great together for the 3 weeks they all lived together. Where did I go wrong???? After the water change, I tested the water 3 times before adding the barbs. Did they attack my shark while I was asleep for the night? What happened?!! He was the one with the most character and very entertaining. All the fish in my 36 gallon tank seem to be fine. Which one killed my shark??!!!
I am feeling sad. I hate not knowing. I want to make sure I don’t repeat the same mistake, if it was something I did wrong 😢😢😢😢

It doesn't look like any fish killed the shark at all.

Is this tank cycled? How long has it been set up? What are ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels?

I am still new to all this. I started with a 10 gallon about a little over a month and a half. 2 tetras and barbs died. Never knew anything about cycling the tank. I then was left with 2 tetras. Cleaned the tank , got 3 more tetras and the shark. After 2 weeks later I upgraded to a 36 gallon. Brought just about half the old water all decorations and then had 5 tetras and the shark. Treated the water. Added one live plant. All water levels were great readings. One week later I added 3 danios. A week later I did a water change in the new tank all 5 tetras, 3 danios, and the shark were doing great for 2 weeks. I then did another water change because I didn’t know I shouldn’t keep lights on for 12 hours and I guess I was over feeding them. Had algae and water was somewhat cloudy. After water change, 2 days later added the 3 barbs and here we are. Dead shark. Still trying to learn all this. The water readings are as they should be on the strip. Ammonia strip too. I added 2 other live plants after I did the last water change too. What a mess. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong or if cycling is complete or The Who what where when why. Please help. Picture shows what it looks like after the water change, with live plants which I also don’t know if I need something under the plants 😢

Have you got a lid on your tank, sometimes these fish jump and knock themselves out.
I do have a lid on my tank. The shark stayed at the bottom for the most part. He would come up and eat with the tetras as he wasn’t a shy shark. Being a bottom feeder, we also fed him his pellets. He likes to go inside the house but also came out throughout the day. He, the 6 tetras and 3 danios lived together and got along well, for 3 weeks before adding the barbs. I’m not sure what I have done wrong 😢

what are you exact params?
you can take a photo of the paper or liquid if you dont know
most likely some sort of poisoning
your description does not seem like he is stressed

omg...
my wording is so bad

i was saying that his behavior BEFORE he died was not stressed
No he/she was perfectly fine until I added the 3 new barbs. Day after I added them, was when I found him dead. That’s why I wondered if one of them may have attacked it.

What kind of poisoning? 😢

My suggestion not that I know but Tiger Barbs are likely to chase a fish like your shark, which makes the jumping theory probable.

Hmm interesting 🤔. I had never seen the shark jumping. He stayed at the bottom of tank about 90% of the day.

yeah barbs are aggressive
have you checked its underside for red markings?
What kind of poisoning? 😢
ammonia, nitrite, nitrate!
those are very likely for an uncycled tank.

They can move pretty quick and when they do no tank is big enough for them. I have had several Redtail Sharks end up on the floor over the years.
