Hello

I am thinking of adding some Glass tetras to my tank, not too much info available.

Are they similar to the rummy nose with respect to care and keeping?

Looking at about 8 - 12 or so.

Can I mix these and Rummys or red eye tetras?

Will they shoal together?

What specifically are your "glass tetras"?

There are things like Roeboides species which get called this name, and they're *absolutely* not community fish, being dedicated fin and scale eaters. Then there are the Pristella tetras which are superb community fish. Again, there are the glassfish Parambassis, which might be sold as "tetras". They're good community fish, if slightly predatory and a bit difficult to feed. Avoid the painted ones though; besides being very cruel, the process of injecting dye into their bodies makes them more prone to disease.

So, we need a Latin name here. If your retailer can't provide one, then these fish are best avoided, because you really won't know what you're buying.

Cheers, Neale

Good question

the breeder where i get my fish from (A pound usually gets me 10 tetras, 2 pounds a bristlenose) has them in big community tanks. They look exactly like the rummy's bar any colour. They are very small at the moment. Approx 15mm
As for dyed fish, even though I own two, I agree its cruel and will never buy thaem again.
