Hello all
I will soon be building my own 5' tank.

There is only 1 glass supplier locally who has quoted me £25+VAT per metre for 6mm float glass. This obviously includes removing the sharp edges tho not actually polishing.

The price seems a little excessive to me. Do any of you know if it sounds ok because if it is it means, with sealant, the tank is going to cost me in the region of £110? I could probably buy a premade tank for less (tho the idea of making my own is because I have a parculiarly sized alcove).

TIA

Dimensions as follows:

1500 wide, 430 deep, 600 high

I don't know where you got your advise from regarding the proposed construction, but you require 10mm glass for that size, and it needs to be braced around the top edge and across the centre. I'm amazed the glass supplier didn't point this out to you (unless they were not told of the purpose of the glass). If you went ahead and built it, it would shatter whilst filling once the water got beyond 450mm high.

You could try somewhere i used to work.

Coventry Toughened Glass - He usually has a couple of tank orders on the go each week.
He will deliver aswell included within the price i think.
