Currently using a diy co2 system on my 30l but I have to clean the ceramic disc 2 or 3 times a week. It seems to get clogged up with white gunge, is this the yeast coming through?

It could be, any creamy/white residue inside the glass?

Generally I've been told in the past that they need soaking in 50% bleach/50% water once a week which is why I've just ordered 2 identical diffusers (leave one soaking while the other is in the tank, swap them weekly).

Is this still the case with pressurised systems? was thinking about getting a JBL setup for my new tank. Really dont want to be cleaning two lots of diffusers every week.

I believe so, as you still get algae and other junk collecting in there. I'll be running my 2 diffuser rotation on a pressurised system. I'll see how it goes :)

I dont know what the white junk is but its very common with yeast CO2, it just grows. As Geroge says adding a bubble counter would stop it growing in the tank. Its harmless as far as I know.

It doesn't happen with pressuired CO2. Think it must just be something in the yeast CO2.
