Glass Catfish

As most of these fish stay small, I am under the impression that they are actually k. minor, at least those sold in the U.S. I'm don't think that the average aquarist tho' would be able to identify the differences between the two. SH

i just saw some at my lfs..
can they go with any type of fish?
i have a betta in the tank?

will they be ok on a group of only 3?

Not really, I'd say you need more than that. I just bought another 4 to bump my shoal up to 9 and they are even more active. I think these fish really do benefit from being in large groups.

:thanks:
i'll get 6 of them...

i got my 3 glass catfishes a couple of days ago...
they seem to group together and have no problems with each other or other fishes whatsoever...
do you think it is still worth getting another 3?

they are just floating together by the water current and don't seem to do much...
they won't hide either...
i read from one of the books that this is quite normal because they do their food hunting during dusk and dawn...

Mostly mine start moving around about 10pm when i turn the light off. I think they prefer their food moving in the current and apparently they have poor eyesight but mine seem to pick flakes off the surface just fine.

how many do you have?

Yes they are primarily nocturnally active, but I would still suggest getting another 3 so they are comfortable.

thanks Ben.
I guess my tank can do with another set of 3.
:good:

any advice on how i can lure them out to play during daylight?

If you can focus some current in the center of the tank....they like to hang in current. I am constantly thinking that one might be dead since they are so hard to see sometimes.....eventually they all regroup and are accounted for. Mine feed during the day at feeding time. SH
