Hey,

I have an AquaOne 510. Today I added some rocks to make a cave. I accidently knocked the side of my glass with the rock. Although I was moving it slowly it did make a thud. Although I know acrylic glass scratches easier how 'tough' is glass and acrylic? I'm asking about both because I'm not sure which my tank is made of. I'm also paranoid.

Thanks

Glass is tougher than you think it is. The several hundred pound weight of your aquarium is sitting on a pane of glass only supported around its very perimeter. Bumping a rock into the glass is HIGHLY unlikely to cause any real damage to it. When you hear horror stories about rocks breaking glass aquariums it usually starts with "I dropped a ten kilo rock into my aquarium from a meter up..."

I wouldn't encourage smacking rocks into the glass if you can avoid it but the average bump isn't likely to flood your house.

Well 12 hours later there doesn't appear to be any leakage!

Thanks for putting my worry at ease.
