My biggest girl, Sasha, who is much bulkier than my smallest, Vicky, has been nipping at her.

The only time Vicky doesnt have her stress stripes is when she's eating.

Last night, she was being prodded more than I liked so I put her in the breeding trap for just a bit to see how that would go.

It was then I noticed two slits in her tail- most likely from Sasha.

Whilst in the breeding trap, which is hardly larger than the larger containers at petsmart or petco, the other two girls were really trying to get at her. But, Vicky's stress stripes weren't there. She seemed to be teasing them. I didnt want anyone to get too stressed out, and I didnt want to make things worse for her when I put her back in the main tank, so I took her out of the breeding trap.

Should I put her in a seperate tank?

Or will this cause my other two girls two go against eachother?

They seem to get along well and have a lot of respect for eachother, though.

i say remove the little girl and replace her with a betta about the same size as the other two. they're liable to fight anyhow, but the size difference could be making the difference. If you take her out, the two bullies may fight, but then, they may not, it seems to depends on their natures and how acclimatized they are to one another.

I agree, or you can add a few more females. Usually when you have more, it spreads the agression out more so they don't team up. You could also add some safe, small shoaling or schooling fish - it is really easy to distract the other fish with the movement - you can use minnows.

Or just remover her to her own happy place:)

Thank you for the replies!
I've decided to move her to her own little bowl.
As soon as I did, the other two were stalking around the tank looking for her.
Jerks. :X
Anyway here's a pic of the setup.

Bwahahaha!

Oh my god.

I just got home from practice and she'd jumped.

Behind my desk, in fact.

It took me several minutes to get her back in water...

She's covered in carpet and her fins look like crap and it looks like one of her gills is damaged.

I'm going to lower the water level.. what else can I do?

I thought she was dead and I sobbed.. and the nmy mom was like, "omg look!" and she swam to the top before falling back down and wriggling on the bottom.

Oh, poor thing! :( There's another topic on a jumper that dried out and was in bad condition. You might want to look at that one for tips on treating yours.

I put a heavy folder over it... and have an air stone going.

Dad was great and took me out to buy some stress coat.

I put a few drops in the water.

She also let me get some of the carpet junk off her.

She's swimming around a tad bit more.

The other thing you could use is that plastic mesh that you can but for the DIY dividers, I've been using that on top of the smaller tanks/bowls with no problems, and no worries about air flow since its got holes.

Haven't gotten to that yet.. but she's surely not in jumping condition now. The folder should work okay so far....

Update: She's able to swim to the surface and back down with control. Seems okay... breathing fine. Carpet stuff mostly gone... I'll see if she eats tomorrow morning. If she can do so, I'll get some stuff for her fin regrowth.

Second update: I have a piece of paper with a few holes punched taped over the top... =)
