The singlespot topminnow (Girardinus uninotatus) is a peaceful livebearer from Cuba which can be kept in soft (upper side of soft), neutral and hard water. And this species is tolerant in temperature ranging from 18°C (64°F) - 28°C (82°F).
They're not that hard to keep and they can be prolific. The adults won't chase nor eat their fry.

With water and temperature tolerances like that they should be named SuperFish, maybe AquaFish.

Well, this species shows an excellent example of livebearers that can be kept in softer water.
