this morning my G/f gave me a birthday present, a betta, (apearantly she thought all fish are the same and thought it can go in to my 36 gallon tank) I now have it in a small tank (see pic) I can't take it back to the pet store, It would have a potential to have severe reprocussions. does everything look ok? in the tank and ohyea, the plant is plastic

and I currently have the fish in the living room, I assume that if I move it in to my bedroom where I turn on the airconditioner every night and the temperature drops from 89degrees farenheit 71 degrees I would have to send it down the Porcelain express right?

That's a little tall for a betta but it will do nicely (unless Mr.Betta protests! ). 71 is a bit chilly, 68 is the minimum that they can handle. Plus that's quite a drastic change in room temperature,maybe you can pick up a small submersible heater and set it at 76ish, just to insure that he doesn't get too cold.

I think you'll get quite attached to the little feller. They are surprisingly endearing fish, each one being a little different from the next.

yes, it is a little tall, but it should do fine!

he is a lucky betta to have such a kind owner

Maybe plant it up a bit and So he has more hidey places. Bettas live in very densely planted rice paddies/Swamps. and Deffinatley try to get him a heater. Good tank though Have fun with him, you'll love him

i agree!
that tank is pretty cool looking, it actually looks like one of those tank living room side tables. how many gallons is it?
also plastic plants could (and probably will, at some point) rip a bettas fins, its best to go with silk or live plants. but use a pair of pantyhose to test it, if i snags the pantyhose, it will prob rip a fin. good luck and enjoy him!! bettas have a lot of personality!

Boy,I've never seen a 25 cent betta,and it's a good thing because instead of 25 I'd have about 100.
