Giant Oto

I've never heard about these guys but when I went to this LFS that I haven't been for awhile I saw some large oto's. They're probably 4-5 times the size of regular otto's. The shape was identical except they weren't the typical black and white but pale brown.

These guys were about 2 1/2" , pretty big for otto's.

Chinese algae eaters come in all sorts of shades from brown, grey and golden. They are often mislabelled and given all sorts of names, i suppose one could also be called a giant oto because they have a similar body shape, even if CAE's get far bigger and have different temperments.

I'm positive they were oto's because I have a chinese algae eater. The giant oto looked identical in shape to a regular oto.

My lfs has them, they list parotocinclus maculadia as them too but usually they are the HYPOPTOPOMA genre(type that into google for info).
