Hi I've been a member on here before but I forgot my sign in name and password as it's been awhile(!)

Anywayyyyy....... my problem is this - a friend of mine has got two goldfish, she doesn't know what kind they are (says they're just goldfish... :/ ) They're about 3inches big with LONG flowing tails (thought they might be fantails but I dunno)she's had them for about about 7months with no problems apart from an algae growth at the start but that got sorted out, she was feeding them too much and had real plants (now switched to plastic). However recently one of them has turned completely white and the other is starting to go the same way! I reckoned it was a pigmentation loss as they're kept at the back of the living room and haven't been getting enough light but I thought I'd better ask on here incase any of yous have other ideas? The fish seem healthy enough they're eating and swimming fine just turning white.

It may just be a colour change, and if bought at the same time they could be from the same genetic spawn.
If they have a single tail then they could be comets or a double tail meaning fantails.
Does the tank have an over head light thats on for most of the day?
If they dont and they are in a dark place then yes they could be losing colour through lack of light.

Sometimes goldies just change colour to white. There's never really a given reason for this, it's genetics, and nothing to worry about.
