I am thinking of getting some ghost shrimp. I love the way they look  and it will be something different than fish. I just have a small tank, one of those 1 gallon ones. I had a 5 gallon up till last week and one of my kids busted it

So I have some questions about the shrimp since I have never had any before. I did look them up on line and found that they can live a long time and do well in unheated water over 50 degrees. So I think the tank I have will be fine.

How many do you think would be ok to put in the tank? What kind/s of food do they do best with? Any illnesses that I need to watch for? What kind of water treatment do I need to use since I have city water? Anything else you would like to tell me about would me most appriciated. TIA

Plants for them would be nice. Use tap water dechorlinator stuff on the water, and the water will be fine.

Like I said it depends on the Betta.

I thought you ment what species of betta. Sorry bout that.

The shrimp are so neat to watch. I dont have to worry if they are eating enough  you can see the food in there tiny tummies. I did get a betta and put him in there and he seems fine with it. I havnt seen any aggression even when one landed on his back  One of them has a white string like thing going all thru its insides not sure what that is. Some of them are totally clear including there eyes. Some have black highlights all over. One has little orange dots on its tail.

There is a variety of sizes ranging from .5 in. to a inch. I may look into seeing what they need to reproduce later on if they do well.
