i bought a little 15cent ghost shrimp about 3 months ago and now its molted into a 7inch behemoth. anyone know anything about this? could it be a freshwater prawn?

WHOA! I was thinking about getting a ghost shrimp or two because they said they don't grow that big when I looked them up online. If they grow that big it will eat all my fish! I don't think they are supposed to get that big. Is it still glass like?

I dont think shrimp will eat ur fish guppy.... I had a bamboo shrimp (r.i.p. eaten by a dojo loach.....) and all he did was hang out by the filter intake and eat small particles of food.

he turned a a dark blue to where you can almost see through him. and he just molted again last nite, im going to have to find him a new home if he gets to big. and yea, i had him in a feeder tank so he could help keep it clean. then the next thting i know, i have a empty tank and a very fat and happy ghost shrimp.

i dont realy think that all ghost shrimp get huge, but if you get one like mine, it will most deffinitly start eating your smaller fish when it hits about two inches. ive given up on having ghost shrimp, so i just stick to wood shrimp and a few small algae shrimp

From what I have found looking online there are several different species of ghost shrimp. Most stay small but a couple get quite large (as yours did). Maybe they mislabelled yours when you bought it. At the petsmart where I buy my fish they label all of the fish and have tabs that say how large they will grow to.
