I tried this last night. Wasn't sure how to get the pellet to stay on my finger, so I rested it on my fingernail. I wasn't prepared for his bite though and it made me jump
So, what's a better way to go about it?

Dip your finger in the water, dip your finger into the food or put a pellet on so it sticks, then put your finger back to the water so they can pick it off.

The do have a pretty good bite for such small fish! Bronson really latches on!

Awww i have to try this, I have only had mine since yesterday, he seems really tame, i ran my finger across his fins and he just stayed there

heh,
that's how i was when i first tried to handfeed my betta x)
i kind of hold the food in between my thumb and my index finger but to where it sticks out mostly.

Freeze dried blood worms are the easiest to not get bitten with.
They're long so he'll take the part not near your finger:)

I won't let any fish larger than a platy at my fingers. I'm a chicken.

it is good for them to work for there food. Do all bettas jump out the water for their food

Some do some don't . One of mine has a deathwish. He tries to fling himself through a 1 inch wide X 2 inch long feeding trap when I put food in. He attacks my fingers as well, espescially if I have bright nail polish on. He's given me quite a few scares when he's suddenly appeared on top of the tray flipping about

haha sounds like your betta likes giving you heart attacks and like giving you the run around with feeding time lol...

Im going to try to get my betta to feed out my hand if he choses too. Do they hurt then they bite ?

No it doesn't hurt at all, but it is surprising how strong those little jaws are. You can really feel them clamp down if they latch on like my Bronson does .

I can't wait to get a betta.
The Golds (Hooray, talking about lame goldfish again) PECK, and I mean PECK me if I finger feed them. Little monsters are what they are.

i know the koi and goldfish in my pond do the same. Also when i had a cold water tank they done it too
