I Just found this on the net, and I was wondering if this would work, and also if this could be dangerous!

Q:
i have tryed every way to get rid of the snails but it does not work pease help me find another way of riding them

A:
this is a 100% way to get rid of them. first take one of the snails and dip it in white spirit and pop it back in the tank.(this will not harm your fish due to pigaments in their skin)this snail now carrys Sn3 a very toxic poison .when this snail mates with the female of the speaciese it will fetilise the poison into its eggs and the eggs will not produce and eventually float to the tops then you simply scoop them out keep doing this till they stop breeding.i have tryed this over 50 times and this has worked not a single fish of mine has died during this

Sounds like complete rubbish to me as most pest snails are hermaphrodites - so cann't possibly see how this can work.... :/

Stick to the tried and tested methods and no danger of harming your fish....

www :)

if it's a 100% gaurenteed way of curing snails, why has he ha to use that method 50 times ?!?!!? :S :S

Clown loackes are the way forward !! Just remember that they get BIG !!! :flex:

I see no harm in someone with a snail problem taking some snails and testing this. For all you know, it might work

P.T.

Khuli loches love the eggsacks of snails! and the only get to 4 inches....
also 1 egg sack is like 50 babie snails!

If your really having a snail problem then buy a group of clown loaches then trade them back when they finish the job, I know a couple of people who bought clown loaches just to clean their tank of snails then they return them for a trade in.....that's what I would do if I have a small tank and don't want to keep the CL....

Hmm, I thought it was a bit wiers when I saw it too, but I thought i'd run it past you guys before i got the white spirit out! :p

You lot are probably right, I've got a couple of clowns in my big tank so I will probably put them in because my snail problem is getting out of controll now. It will have to wait for a bit though because they have just about recovered from ich and I don't want to infect my other tank.

:p Actually snails are either male OR female. and they need to mate in order to breed. Its just that the female can store sperm inside them (yuk) for many months and therefore lay eggs if they are the only ones in your tank still.
