Getting rid of green water?

Well here is/was the solution:

• do a 30-50 percent water change, I did about 45 percent leeching out almost 5 gallons out of the tank.
• cut a piece of cardboard to block the front and sides of the tank
• added wool/filter floss to the bio-wheel filter
• removed the cardboard a 5pm when I got home, turned the lights on
• do a 10-percent water change every day
• fed the critters
• lights off at 10pm, cardboard goes back up

After about 6 days everything cleared up.
