we're on the third, almost fourth day of my betta not eating...need some reassurance that he will or advice on what to do next! :( i'm starting to get worried on what to do...

What kind of food are you feeding him?
Where did you get him?

I am pretty sure he will eat when he is hungry. My gf had the same problem with two of her bettas. I think that they didn't eat for a whole week, now they're fine and piggies. What my gf did was sink the food to the bottom with a tooth pick and they would eat a little bit from the bottom. Try to give them different type of food maybe that will help. If they are new bettas from the lfs maybe they're stressed from the ride. They will come around you'll see.

If it's new, then you'll have to wait for it to adjust.

If not, try a water change and maybe some live or frozen food.

Is he not eating at all or is he swallowing and spitting the food out?

i got him from my lfs, about a fifteen minute ride from where i live, i did a partial water change today, and he's been offered wardley's betta bites, takes them in and spits them out, then looks at them. he's also been offered freeze dried bloodworms....my other betta is pigging himself out on them and he had a more stressful ride if anything....he's been behaving like normal otherwise, the temp is fine, his water is clear, he's just not eating. i'll guess i'll just have to wait........

One of my bettas wouldn't eat for a few days after we got him. He finally settled
for some brine shrimp. The other betta started pigging out the very first day! I guess it depends on the fish....

It's recommended that you turn off the lights and leave the fish alone until the day after you get it. It should be more receptive then. Try alternating foods and controlling the amount of food you put in. I put water in a cup, put a cube of frozen food in, wait a few minutes, suck in some food with a baster and add a few drops of the food into the tank. This should prevent pollution in a small tank when the betta is by itself.
