Getting him a Friend?

I like pygmy cories with bettas. Never had a problem with them. However, all bettas do have different personalities, so if you want to try fish or frogs with your betta, you need to be prepared to remove the betta if he or the other tank occupants are being harmed.

Personally I have had good luck with other fish in my 10 gallon with my Bettas. I have housed mine with Mollies, female Guppy, Neon Tetra and Albino Cory. When I purchases my Bettas they were the most vigorous and spunky Bettas in the store, flaring and challenging the other male Bettas near them through the glass.

Mine have never had a problem with other fish and seem to actually enjoy the company, following them around peacfully and rubbing/leaning against them. I think as long you you put them with peaceful fish that dont have a lot of flamboyant finnage they do well.

Just my experience..

i have my male bettas like this: 2 in a divided 2.5 gal, 1 in a 3 gal with 2 adf's & a cherry barb. all are happy & the 2 in the 2.5 absolutely love flaring @ each other & showing off whenever they think i'm watching them.

Thanks for the replys everone!

I was thinking of possible getting 2 female bettas to put in a seperate tank near my betta's tank, but my mom has said no more pets, not even fish. (For now, though)

My sister might be getting two ADFs to put in my betta's old tank, but she did say is my betta is lonely we could always put them with my betta. :)

I don't think Yeevia was serious, so lighten up. He just jokes and he knows you guys get your panties in a twist when he says things like that, so now it's just a natural response for him to give you a hard time.

Well sorry, but I don't think its a good idea to "joke" on a thread where someone is asking for legitimate advice, seeing as they could have taken it seriously and ended up with two dead bettas...

Chrissy: Aww, too bad you can't really get any friends for now. Hopefully when your mom lifts the pet ban, you can try your females. Though, I've heard its best to put several in a 10 gal as one on one they tend to bug each other.

LoL "dont get your panties in a bunch"...

Seriously it is hard to detect Sarcasm online, so be nice everyone! You could do something like a [/sarcasm] for all your H4x0rz out there who wants to pwn some n00bs... but this is more for like immature kids like me.

I know everyone here says not to put bettas in with other fish, well mostly everyone anyway lol. I have a male betta in a community tank, with 2 female bettas, guppies, gouramies, neons, cat fish, clouds and a few other fish. I tried having him in a tank by himself and he just sat there, as soon as i put him in the community tank there was a big change. He looked alot happier. He has places to hide in plants and under rocks and every now and again he will pop out and chase a female or just come to say hello when im feeding lol.
